Hand Blown Art Glass Ornament / Sun catcher / Witches Ball / Friendship Ball.   Designed and blown in Seattle by artist Dehanna Jones.

The orb itself is 4" diameter.  With the clear glass loop for hanging it is just about 4.5” in height.  4-6 ounces in weight making it light enough to hang on a tree or in a window.

No matter what you want to call these colorful hanging orbs, they are great for any season, holiday tree, window color, sun-catcher, or to ward off evil spirits.  Which applies mainly to cottage windows in 17th and 18th century England to ward off evil spirits, witches, bad spells, and ill fortune.  Being a Seattle native myself, that part does not necessarily apply to me.   I think that everyone just enjoys a bit of color.

Each ornament is handmade in my Seattle studio.  Ornaments are made from the same color recipe, batches will differ slightly, some will have a more molted look with a different distribution of color, others perhaps a bit of a twist.   Every ornament is unique in the way the colors blend together and has a tendency to look completely different when rotated.

Ornaments arrive packaged in a 6 x 6 x 6” inch exterior shipping box.  Inside the recipient will find a nice clear & gold cupcake box holding the ornament with an artist card.  All ornaments are shipped first class mail unless you upgrade during checkout.  Contact us with any questions.

Dehanna Jones is the designer and principal producer of her artwork made in her Seattle based hot glass studio where she works with the help of 2 assistants. They are part of her glass blowing team, helping heat color and the bits of clear glass that are necessary to form the color patterns.  Plus they are just good company.

“My glass work is created by a combination of traditional glass blowing techniques and my attraction to intense color.   I first gather molten glass from a 2150 degree furnace on a blow pipe and colorize each vessel with the raw elements that make color.  My work is not painted, but colored glass manipulated while hot to form pattern. I use the transparency of glass to transmit and reflect light through the layers of opaque and transparent color to increase the surface intensity while retaining the smooth glossy nature of blown glass.”
