For graal vases. A small dense colored blank is made about the size of a grapefruit. It is cooled to room temp. The image is drawn on the outside then sandblasted through the color. The blank is reheated to 1200 degrees then picked up on a blow pipe and hot glass is gathered on the outside. The bubble is then re-blown out and as the pattern stretches with the new shape. Each piece is different from the rest. And this two step process is more labor intensive than the standard vase. All pieces are signed by the artist. |
